Manufactured in Neptune, New Jersey, this Masonite-and-pine creation sports two lipstick tube pickups, a 25” scale, two concentric volume/tone controls, and a four-way adjustable bridge. The guitar is in excellent condition, with only a few edge dings to indicate its age. As Danelectro enthusiasts can attest, so many of these student-model guitars are in rough shape. Not this beauty. The pots and three-way pickup selector switch function perfectly, the red sunburst finish is bright and unfaded —even the plastic parts are still creamy white. Plug this Sear Roebuck marvel into the original and equally pristine amp-in-case and dial in a touch of tremolo for a period-authentic surf tone. Or pair it with your fave tube combo amp for David Lindley-style punch as you bash and twang through a menu of your favorite “extra greasy” numbers. We're not sure we can emphasize this enough — this pair is in exceptional condition. The guitar plays beautifully and sounds lively, wooden and snappy. Given its 8” speaker and 5 watts, the amp won’t produce a deafening roar, but it definitely produces a diminutive roar. Uncharacteristic of these models, it’s also dead quiet, making a cap job unnecessary. SOLD!
