Introduced in 1958, the thinline Rocket was Harmony’s entry into the Space Race, a sleek, streamlined instrument that evokes images of NASA’s pioneering ventures into the great beyond. Except for the slightest bit of texture wear on the back from a strap stored in the bottom of the case, this is by far the most pristine and best-sounding Rocket we’ve ever come across. In spite of (or maybe because of?) its three DeArmond pickups, six knobs and four-way selector on the lower bout, the guitar is capable of producing everything from snappy, surprisingly Strat-like tones to milkshake-thick crunch. Comes with the original blue-lined grey chipboard case. Seriously, we’ve never seen one in anywhere near this condition. This beauty looks like it was safely stowed away in a bomb shelter during the early days of the space race and kept there until we happened upon it. Actually, that would make a good screenplay. Hollywood, are you listening? Two minor headstock dings, else very good-plus. 8.5/10. SOLD!
