Originally retailing for a very affordable $45, the aptly named J-45 (the “J," as you can probably surmise, stands for “jumbo”) has long been a go-to favorite for its good looks, comfortably ergonomic body shape, and excellent live and recorded tone. True to form, this guitar is easy to play, equally responsive to a light touch or heavy strum, and boasts that legendarily lively Gibson midrange. Its voice is rounded, with a zippy high-end response and excellent note bloom. Given the body size and shape, the bass frequencies are more delicate than the percussive projection often associated with a dreadnought, but they’re more than adequate for balanced Travis picking and nothing short of ideal for strumming. Minor dings, as pictured, else very good-plus. Includes factory L.R. Baggs undersaddle pickup and original Gibson hardshell case. SOLD!
