The ES-333 was introduced as an affordable alternative to the company’s standard dot reissue. Described in one guitar guide as a “working man’s 335,” this instrument is notable for its faded satin finish, understated appearance (no pickguard or headstock emblem), and nickel-plated hardware. Yet the tones are anything but one-dimensional. Plugged into a Fender Princeton, this 333 is voiced to deliver a muscular yet articulate tone—think Wheels of Fire-era Clapton mixed in with a touch of Larry Carlton’s burnished “Kid Charlemagne” timbre. Comes loaded with a stock open-coil Alnico Magnet humbucker in the bridge position and a replacement Gibson ’57 Classic in the neck. Minor headstock crack professionally repaired and is very stable (we thoroughly tested it). Else, 8/10. Comes with a high quality Gibson-branded hardshell case, complete with shroud. SOLD!
