Anyone who knows Aardvark is aware of how much we like Guild acoustics. This guitar came to us in a trade in exchange for a vintage Guild 12-string dreadnought. That alone should be an indication of how much this Bozeman, Montana-made instrument impressed us. Spruce top, beautifully figured Hawaiian koa back and sides. Factory-installed pickup. The guitar has the usual creamy Gibson timbre, accentuated perhaps by the choice of koa wood, which is known to boost midrange. We added a little relief to the trussrod, installed a fresh set of medium-gauge bronze strings, and immediately started passing the guitar around. It soon prompted an impromptu song circle and discussions of how easy it is to play, and how inspiringly tuneful it is. It wasn’t long before Steve got that certain faraway look in his eye, that one that can only mean, “I would like to keep this guitar.” Then it was time for us to distract him, so we could put the guitar back into its original case—alongside the original paperwork—and hide it for the benefit of you, our customers. Quick, buy it before he figures out where we hid it. Steve is one resourceful devil when it comes to guitar acquisition! 9/10. SOLD!
