Even during the ’70s, when massive production increases led to commensurate drops in quality of the guitars from many of the other American manufacturers, the consistency of Rickenbacker instruments remained consistently high. Today, the Santa Ana, California company continues to produce a fraction of the guitars turned out by some of its competitors, but, as this Metallic Turquoise-finished guitar so ably demonstrates, at Rickenbacker, quality trumps quantity. Slim, comfortable neck, 24 frets on a varnished rosewood fingerboard, two Hi-Gain single-coil pickups and a blender knob to dial in your ideal “jangle-pop” tone, a la REM, the Smithereens, or Johnny Marr of The Smiths. Very good-plus condition. With original case and new Rickenbacker polishing cloth.
