Gibson Firebird (1990) SOLD!

We recently acquired this guitar at a vintage show in exchange for a great Guild dreadnought (and you all know how much we love old Guilds here at Aardvark). When we first plugged it into our favorite ‘64 Fender Princeton, we were overjoyed by the tone, which we would describe as combining characteristic Gibson punch overlaid with just the right topping of Fender sparkle. Besides looking cool, with its elegant extended headstock and beautifully faded yellow finish, this guitar feels so comfortable and inviting that it’s surprisingly easy to overlook its broad tonal range. In part due to its large body and sandwich of walnut and mahogany as the choice of body woods, as well as the stock mini humbuckers, the guitar produces an authoritative swagger that might be likened to an ideal blend of savory Strat and guttural Gibson. Players from Sonny Landreth and Clarence Gatemouth Brown to Johnny Winter have long espoused the appeal of these neck-through-body instruments. Isn’t it time you experienced a Firebird for yourself? One minor ding on back of headstock (see photo), else very good. With original Gibson logo case.
