One of Guild’s relatively uncommon rosewood guitars, the D-50 sports a three-piece mahogany and maple neck, a spruce top and an ebony fingerboard. Beyond the clinical construction details, this is a typical Guild—in the sense that it sounds great. The guitar remains buzz-free even under a robust strumming attack. And when played with a pick, the tone is punchy and responsive. Like most older Guilds, the guitar is substantial without being excessively heavy. Also like most older Guilds, it sports a bit of weather checking on top. But the neck is straight, the intonation is accurate and the instrument is entirely crack-free. With non-original heavy molded case. 8/10. Sold!
