An unusually responsive guitar, the Guild D-25M combines a solid spruce top (in this case, stained to look like mahogany) with solid mahogany sides and an arched mahogany back. The guitar bears indications of its history as a player’s instrument, mainly small dings and scratches on the top and back, as well as a chip on the back of the headstock (see photo), but no indications that it has suffered any kind of abuse. The frets are in good condition, with plenty of life remaining, and the timbre is rich and mature, as befits a guitar with more than 30 years and who-knows-how-many-miles of life experience. It’s also loud, largely because of its arched back, which pushes serious air out through the soundhole. A guitar of understated beauty (you gotta love that headstock!) and solid construction, this Westerly, Rhode Island-made classic comes with a period-correct hardshell case.
