Have you ever wondered how Richard Wetherill felt when he first happened upon the ruins of Cliff Palace in Colorado’s Mesa Verde while riding through a snowstorm in search of lost cattle? We felt a similar adrenalin rush when we first opened the case containing this remarkably preserved Guild. Not only is the guitar in very good condition, with only minor top and back wear, but the case pocket yielded several additional treasures, including the original 1978 sales receipt from Herger Music in Provo, Utah; the owner’s manual (specifying that this guitar was special-ordered with the double pickguard), and unopened Guild polishing cloth. The guitar’s sonic signature will be immediately familiar to connoisseurs of classic Guild tone, with feathery highs and full-bodied lows. What’s more, this mahogany and spruce dread is fitted with a comfortable “c”-shaped neck profile that invites hours of practice or performance. Ships in original Guild hardshell case with one balky latch that works fine with a minimum of coaxing. Sold!
