When we first got this guitar in, one of our favorite customers stopped by and generously agreed to take it out for a test drive. After hitting a couple of big-as-Montana open E chords and applying just the right amount of waggle via the Bigsby, he looked up from his ruminations with a thoughtful expression. So how do you like it, we asked, full of anticipation. You know how some guitars are like getting a peck on the cheek from your great-aunt, he rhapsodized. We nodded, somewhat nervously. Well, this one is nothing like that, he said, breaking into a grin. In fact, it’s more like getting a passionate kiss from your first great love. While it wouldn’t have occurred to us to use exactly that analogy, we know what he means. This is a great guitar that will remind you of why you fell in love with great guitars in the first place, a two-fisted tone machine that is a bit darker sounding than many of the late '60s Teles we’ve played. In fact, the harmonic frequencies in its stock pickups led us to reminisce about a long-gone 1960 Esquire that used to reside in the Aardvark Collection, way back in the day. The pickguard and switch tip are replacements; the guitar is otherwise original and includes the original case with a worn Fender logo. SOLD
