A little dog that thinks it’s a big dog, this mid-’60s LG-1 embodies all of the virtues that make this model a favorite of so many finger-style blues and ragtime guitarists, namely a comfortable oval neck profile and the dry, elevated midrange character we associate with vintage ladder-braced guitars. Perhaps because this particular instrument has been played some, it’s unusually lively and resonant in all registers. It has an immediacy and snap (not to mention volume) in the bass frequencies, as well as impressive clarity and note definition in the treble frequencies. Replaced bridge (which helps the tone considerably in this case). Some weather checking, pick scratches and general wear on top as evidenced in the photos, but the back and sides are in very good condition. No cracks. Comes in a non-original but well-worn vintage chipboard case.
