Somewhat belatedly, the Fender Jazzmaster is now firmly ensconced among the pantheon of Leo Fender’s classic designs. Although it is true that the guitar’s originaltarget audience (jazzbos) almost universally rejected this design upon its release in 1959 (a trend that largely continues to this day), hipsters, sonic explorers, and alterna-rockers have picked up the mantle for this long-underappreciated design.
This is a great example of a classic-era Jazzmaster. It’s all-original, including the original pickguard, which has no cracks or shrinkage, and the pickups produce tonesranging from delicate sparkle to the aural equivalent of a great hairy ogre. Grrr! Ships in the original black hardshell case. $4,000.
