The Gibson L-48 is the ideal instrument for those of you who listen to Freddie Green’s four-to-the-bar strumming with Count Basie and think that his uniquely melodic (not to mention swinging!) comping is something you would like to explore. Alternatively, if you’ve been wandering about through the sylvan woods of Cyberspace trying to find just the right woody voice for your backporch string band, this guitar might be just the carved-top vintage instrument you need. Spruce top, maple back and mahogany sides. Brazilian rosewood fingerboard, 16-inch-wide body and relatively small (by the standards of that era) neck that makes fingering extended chords a pleasure instead of a chore. Two f-holes, adjustable rosewood bridge and trapeze tailpiece. One cleated and stable crack on the top bout (see pics) and a few dings and general light wear on the body and headstock. Original Kluson Deluxe tuners with what may be replacement buttons (they’re virtually unmarred and are less yellowed than those we typically see on guitars of this vintage but could conceivably be original). One replacement set screw on what appears to be the original pickguard. Ships with newer TKL hardshell case. Sold!
