This mandolin dates to the classic era of mandolin orchestras, a simpler time when people of a certain class regularly gathered together to play popular standards and light classical compositions in ensembles composed of various mandolin-family instruments, including mandolins, mandolas, mandocellos, and even—so we have heard--mandobasses. It has a sweet, sonorous tone that projects well without any hint of shrillness. Replaced bridge and tailpiece cover, else all original. A beautifully maintained, crack-free instrument that reminds us of a time before TV, the Internet, digital downloads, even widespread electricity. That’s kind of amazing when you really think about. Includes non-original quality hardshell case. On consignment. 8.5/10. SOLD!
