The same instrument as a Harmony H61, this full-depth guitar combines a solid spruce top with solid maple back and sides. The stock Gibson-made P-13 pickup in the neck position combines marvelous punch with nice, throaty highs. To begin, we plugged this into a brown Fender Pro loaded with a 15” Weber speaker, rolled back the tone and played close-voiced grips. The result was convincing faux-organ tones — neither bright nor flabby, but with substantial emphasis on the midrange, reminiscent of a vintage Hammond B3. For variety, we then dimed the tone control, added a TS9 to the tonal recipe and presto—this humble archtop dished out a honking, sax-like bluster that was marvelously dynamic, warm and distinct—the perfect combination for a fast jump blues or Texas roadhouse number.
Substantial but user-friendly U-shaped neck, weather checking on the finish and some scrapes and wear marks on the body, but no major dings or boo-boos. Non-original Grover tuners and missing pickguard. Ships in a new padded gigbag. SOLD!
